studiocolony was founded in 2012 by Stéphanie Estoppey and Ozan Alaca. They first met at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design where they were both enrolled in the Industrial Design programme. After several years of travel and apprenticeship working for renowned studios in New York, London, Munich, Frankfurt and Zurich, they crossed paths again in Basel, where they founded studiocolony gmbh in 2012. Ever since, they have dedicated themselves to developing consumer and industrial goods that meet the highest standards.
In 2018, Danilo Silvestri, designer SGD and lecturer at the FHNW Institute Industrial Design, joined studiocolony as a senior partner.

Stéphanie Estoppey, Director
Industrial designer, studied at FHNW Academy of Art and Design and Libera Università di Bolzano (I)
Gathered valuable experience with Priestman Goode, Nitzan Cohen and Stauffacher Benz Design, developing products for Swiss International Airlines, HSR Rapperswil, Atelier Pfister and Eternit. Her experience as an assistant for the law firm Delvoigt Leitner Waldmann and in a cardiology clinic serves her well in her function as managing director of studiocolony.
Whether in the studio, as a member of the a cappella choir "Six Chicks" or at home with her two children, Stéphanie Estoppey always strikes the right note.
Ozan Alaca, Head of Design
Industrial designer, studied at FHNW Academy of Art and Design
Found his way to industrial design after dabbling in biotechnology at ETH Zurich and in medicine at the University of Basel. Still today, he finds inspiration for product design in the natural sciences. While at university, he worked for Research Matters in Basel doing market research and supporting product launches for the pharmaceutical industry. His background makes him the ideal intermediary between engineering and marketing, as he is familiar with both scientific thinking and the language of engineers. Before founding studiocolony, Ozan Alaca worked with Nicola Stattmann in Frankfurt and Stephen Burks in New York. Among other projects, he designed products for Ligne Roset, Chanel, Swarovski, Mini (BMW) and Bauerfeind.

President of the Swiss Graphic Designers association for many years, he had his finger on the pulse of the graphic design scene, serving both designers and industry with his expertise. He received an important design award together with his students at the EXPO Milano 2015.
